March 31, 2010

all my memories are fuzzy. they're like a squirrel's tail, out of focus, fresh out of the drier.

March was good to me. I thought I'd honor the month of March today. Lots of things happened this month, good and bad. I only remember the good things. I did a lot of routine activities but also lots of silly things and random crazy things happened. Here's a shot(ish) recap of my March madness.

March 1-4: Indiana Road Trip
I had a lovely friend at school named Swati, she transferred to Purdue this semester for some ridiculous reason. Me, Steve, and our friend Sjrsten spent our spring break on a thirteen our car ride and crossed five state lines to visit this silly girl. It was a much needed trip. We missed her. I never realized how weird Indiana is. Everyone there is depressed and they didn't talk to us or acknowledge our existence or smile ever. Problem because they don't get enough serotonin. But it's okay, Swati was still a happy loon person. We played a lot of Pictionary and board games and smoked a lot of sheesha and ate a lot of Insomnia Cookies at three in the morning. This is us (Steve, Me, Sjrsten, Swati):

They're my best friends, along with some statues they're molesting (Steve, Swati, Sjrsten):

March 4-7: Valentine's Day in Williamsburg
After trekking to and from Indiana, Steve and I drove another three hours to hang out in Chilliamsburg to stay at my sister Irene's house. For bizarre reasons, Steve decided to leave at four in the morning and Irene was leaving the next day for Flordia. This gave me and my boyfriend Max a chance to finally celebrate Valentine's Day. The next day we bought a ton of noodles and chicken and salad and a bottle of Green Fin wine. We lit a candle, poured two glasses of wine, and gobbled up our delicious dinner. I have so much more to say about my boyfriend, but it was one of the nicest nights I've ever had with Max. The next day the weather was beautiful so we got some subs and went of to chill at the lake. Unfortunately some lame person decided to study on a Saturday so we didn't get to sit on the docks. Later we got pretty silly and decided to watch the Miyazaki movie My Neighbor Totoro. Now, Miyazaki makes some of the greatest movies and I've never seen one I didn't love but Totoro was just grazy! I will never understand that film...

March 7: R.I.P. Chill
Over winter break Max bought two aqua frogs. We named them Sick and Chill. Sick always did weird stuff and swam around everywhere and Chill kind of just chilled and mostly hid under the rocks. On the last day of my spring break Max and I were getting ready to drive me back to Fredericksburg and Max back to D.C. When he went to pack up aqua frogs, Max found Chill floating at the top. It was incredibly upsetting. I love those weird frogs! Now Sick is only child but I think he's finally adjusting.

March 17: St. Patrick's Day Friends
I thought I'd have a quick night on St. Patrick's Day since I had a class the next morning at 9:30am. My roommate Anna convinced me to join her and our friend Mitchell for a night at our friend Landon's apartment for some nice drinks and nice company. Sadly, Landon was not at his place of residence but rather at a party making the most of St. Patty's. Thankfully, a couple walking behind us let us into the apartment and, much to our surprise, into Landon's apartment. We instantly clicked with the couple, Adam and Caitlin and time flew by. It was such a breath of fresh air to meet two completely random people and have a fantastic night with them. Caitlin was hilarious and told us all about our astrological signs and Adam was so hospitable, he offered us so many drinks and told so many stories. That night is definitely in my top five favorite college experiences.

March 18-21: Brumby Party
This weekend was a blur it was so intense. Max (Brumby) turned 21 on February 26th and his parents threw him a party the Saturday after his spring break. To do this weekend justice, I have to prelude Brumby party by explaining how I spent Friday afternoon drinking in a kiddie pool in the front yard of some friends' house, listening to one of them play the accordion watching the faces of everyone driving by. The next day had the same level of epicness. To get to the party which was at Green Leafe Tavern in Williamsburg, we took a charter bus. The bus should have been a warning of the shenanigans that were about to unfold. If I remembered the party better, I would explain it better but I can't. There was drinking and a fabulous cake and speeches and cigars and amazing people. There was an overwhelming feeling of happiness and friendship everywhere. I don't know if Max would want me to put up a picture of his family but it's adorable and they're the loveliest Australians I know! Brumby family (Sophie, Max, Mrs. & Mr. Brumby):

March 27: Trying New Things
There are some things I like to keep out of my blog but I definitely wanted to mention this night. I met a lot of new people and enjoyed all of their company For everyone that was around, I had a lovely time :)

March 31: My Family
My siblings are currently on spring break and my mom decided they were going to see my sister in Williamsburg. She also decided they were going to stop halfway to see me. It was so nice to see my loon family. I hadn't seen them since January and I left on bad terms. They're exactly how I left them. Happy and loud and shameless wherever they go. It didn't even bother me when my mom tried to take a million pictures of us or when my dad kept asking me how school was going. I always miss them a lot more than I realize.

I feel like I hardly scratched the surface of a fabulous month.

Good bye March, I'll miss you, Rex.
